We will be celebrating Maundy Thursday with the people of St. Martin’s Church here at Christ Church, Ithan at 7 PM. The central act of this Service is the washing of the feet. We will be inviting anyone from the congregation who wishes to have their feet washed to come forward. Please consider participating in this moving and powerful ceremony.
Also, it is St. Martin’s custom to gather prior to the Service at 6 PM for a soup and bread supper. We will be having that supper in Ithan Hall. Bring bread to share, along with a bottle of wine if you wish. To share fellowship before celebrating this beautiful Service focused on our call to be disciples together in the world is a great way to begin this celebration. Please join us at 6 PM for the Service.
Following the Service, the church will be open from the end of the Service, about 9 PM to Midnight for “Nightwatch,” an opportunity to come to the church and keep watch with Jesus in prayer, recalling Jesus’ time in the Garden of Gethsemane when he asked the disciples to keep watch with him as he prayed. You can sign up for half hour increments for prayer on the easel at the front of the church. We would like to have someone in the church praying for these three hours. Consider spending some time with our Lord in prayer for our personal needs and the needs of our world.
